Advanced Placement

Illinois offers credit for a variety of honors programs as well as credit for:

The University of Illinois recognizes the value of the Advanced Placement (AP), the International Baccalaureate (IB) programs, and Advanced Level Certificates from the former British Education System. However, students should be aware that there are times when it is in the student's best interest to take the U of I course that corresponds to the AP or IB credit instead of accepting the test-based credit, so as to be better prepared for the rigors of the subsequent courses in the sequence. Students are able to consult with their academic advisors during Summer Registration in order to determine what will be most appropriate for their individual plan of study.

All incoming students are allowed to take U of I departmental proficiency exams in math, chemistry or physics, if they wish to try to proficiency out of an introductory course.
